My hubby and I were presented with a gift certificate at the holidays from our son. The gift was for the afternoon tea with a tour and wine tasting experience! My son and his partner are located in central Massachusetts, U.S. They searched for experiences that are local to us in Poole, Dorset U.K. that they knew we would enjoy. Such a thoughtful gift and a lovely way to share across the pond!
The Wines of Tinwood
Tinwood is best known for its:
- Brut Sparkling Wine – light, fresh, with delicate bubbles
- Blanc de Blancs – elegant and citrus-driven, made entirely from Chardonnay
- Rosé Sparkling Wine – vibrant, with notes of strawberry and raspberry
These are great examples of how far English wine has come — and they pair beautifully with local cheeses or simply a warm summer afternoon. I personally thought the Blanc de Blancs paired lovely with the chocolate mousse cup and the lemon meringue! Oh, and okay, also with the raspberry Victoria sponge!!!!

The afternoon tea also included traditional English sandwiches. The entire presentation was tailored for us as hubby is gluten-free. They provided all GF options for the sandwiches as well as for the tasty cakes!!! Just not calorie free 😂.

We booked our afternoon tour, tea and tasting a few months in advance. And I’m glad we did! The afternoon tour and tasting we attended was fully booked! We arrived about an hour prior to our booking and strolled around the outside area. There are picnic tables shaded under lovely trees to spend some relaxing time. We viewed the vineyard from the viewing platform, and enjoyed a few nibbles before our tour and tasting event.

There is a gift shop/cafe where you can purchase wine by the glass or bottle, You can also purchase cheeses, crackers, hummus, and other tasty bites if you simply want to enjoy the atmosphere.
The shop provides wooden crates to shop with. Fill it with your fave wine and nibbles and enjoy an afternoon picnic by the vineyard!
