Today was the annual day for the Bournemouth, Poole, Sandbanks Distinguished Gentleman’s Motorcycle Ride (DGR)! Â We are very lucky to live on the route in Sandbanks and watch as these motorcyclist all drove past.
Each year motorcycle enthusiasts gather and begin a route to raise awareness for men’s health issues. Â The drivers are all dressed distinguishably, some even wearing tuxedoes! Â There are a variety of motorcycles, including the classic, sporty, and even one that looks like a Jet Ski!

The DGR is a global charity event that brings together thousands of riders to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health. Â This year there were nearly 1000 riders taking part in the Dorset area event!
Sandbanks is a lovely route for all to see the Distinguished Gentleman’s Motorcycle Ride!
The ride started at Poole Quay, and proceeded down Banks road, right past our flat! Â The route includes a stop off at Bournemouth Pier and will finish at Bournemouth School where there will be an event to celebrate the end of the ride. Â People lined the route to watch, wave and enjoy! Â The riders accommodated all along the route and waved back, tooted their horns and enjoyed the interaction too!
If you look closely, you’ll see how the riders were dressed ~ very distinguished! Â Have a quick watch of the video below and see all of the different styles and makes of the motorcycles!
A fun time for all involved and for a great cause ~ as of this writing over £68,000 has been raised!
