Explore Old Corfu Town and relish in the history and beauty of this lovely island! The saying goes pictures are worth a thousand words. However, pictures don’t do this gorgeous island town justice. The welcoming atmosphere, historical churches and forts, tantalizing food offerings and wonderful people have to be experienced first-hand.
I loved exploring the architecture and gorgeous floral adornments on most every street in Old Corfu Town!
You can see the pride of the people who live here. We chatted with a few restaurant and shop owners and employees. You can feel the love for their culture and for their island. Moreover, it’s apparent in the way their homes and businesses are so beautifully presented!
When you explore Old Corfu Town, immerse yourself in the history to be found!
We couldn’t help but see the glory in this gorgeous church!

This lovely church is still used for services. The public is welcome to walk inside and see the splendor! However, no pictures are allowed to be taken inside this place of worship out of respect. Absolutely beautiful inside and out.
This old fortress is a magnificent sight to behold. Fortezza Vecchia is a Venetian fortress in Old Town Corfu built by the Venetians in the 15th century! You can explore this fortress in Old Town Corfu by purchasing tickets for €3.

And did I mention the food?!
I have to admit I had dessert as my starter! Amazing pomegranate sorbet!

However, I tried to eat a healthy meal after that sorbet decadence!
One of my fave Greek foods is dolmades, vine leaves filled with lamb and rice and drizzled with a tangy lemon sauce. As well as a gorgeous Greek salad, hummus and olives with bread and a lovely extra virgin olive oil! All accompanied by a glass of Greek fruity white wine with lovely floral hints!
Wherever you go on your travels, remember to enjoy all the local history, culture, food and most importantly the people!
