After a lovely visit to Yank country, back across the pond to home and hubby…
I haven’t posted in two days! That’s how long it takes to say goodbyes, get sorted, pack, drive to the airport, sort the rental and luggage, and travel back across the pond.
An hour drive from Central Massachusetts to Boston Logan Airport. Drop the rental car at the agency. Shuttle bus over to the terminal with 2 suitcases a carry-on and a backpack pocketbook (handbag). Drop the checked bags. Worked through the masses at security check. Then…a 45-minute flight delay!
Not a bad flight though, just under 6 hours flight time, but a little turbulence! Landed on what the pilot called a “remote” runway (never heard of that before)! But it required a walk down a steep staircase onto the runway and a shuttle bus to the terminal. Not so bad unless you’re carrying a 20-pound carryon in a maxi dress with heeled boots!
Then, the reunion with hubby as he was waiting for me as I exited from customs! I didn’t realize when I booked this trip that it would be a long holiday weekend! So…needless to say what should have been a two-hour trip home from the airport, turned into a little more than a three-hour trip!

Home safe and sound! Some gorgeous welcome home flowers from hubby, a little unpacking, a two-hour nap to try and help catch up with 27 hours of travel and no sleep, a light meal of shrimp and chicken and some time to enjoy a sunny afternoon on the deck!

Sandbanks welcomed me home with a majestic sunset….so lucky to have this beautiful view and surroundings:

All in all, a wonderful two weeks spent in Yank country with family and friends and a safe trip back to Brit country.
A few hints when you travel across the pond:
Make sure when you plan your trip you consider any holidays that might fall into your travel plans, Holidays (bank holidays) can make the flights more expensive, the airports more crowded and road travel more congested.
Always check your flight times before you travel to the airport. I did check through my airline app, and I was aware of what at first was a 20-minute delay, which then turned into a 45-minute delay. However, the guidance from the airline was to arrive on-time for the original flight time, as they were attempting to make up for the delay and may have left as originally scheduled.
Keep your travel documents (passports, I.D., vouchers, etc.) in a secure but easily accessible place on your person.
Be prepared for your security check. Empty pockets, wear jackets and shoes that are easily removed. Be ready, when it is your turn, to place all your electronic devices in the bins. Most airports require laptops to be in a bin of its’ own. Smaller devices like phones and tablets can be placed in one bin but separate from your other items, like coats, shoes, carry-ons. Always do a last-minute check of your carryon luggage to ensure any liquids you have meet the airport criteria or that you have no liquids at all. (I pack my makeup, hair products, etc. in my checked baggage just to make things easier). Always keep your eye on your bins (trays) and belongings as you wait for your turn through the personal security scanner.
Always make sure your devices are fully charged. Most airport do have plugs where you can charge your phones, laptops, tablets, etc., but they don’t always all work! And if you are unfortunately delayed, you’ll want to. be able to communicate as well as be entertained while you wait!
Whenever you travel, stay safe, be aware, stay in touch with folks so they know where you are in your travels.
But most importantly…ENJOY!
