A Mid-Week Dinner Out!

It’s always a nice break to have a dinner out mid-week, especially when it’s compliments of my cousin across the pond!

One of my favorite local restaurants in Brit country is the Romanzo Greek Taverna, in Westbourne, Dorset. We have been there a few times and are always welcomed with open arms and plates full of traditional Greek delights!

On one of our visits there, I mentioned that I love Spanakopita (spinach pie). I told them how one of my aunts used to make this amazing treat! Although it wasn’t on the menu that night, the waitress actually took my phone number so she could call me the next time her mum, the chef, made it! There is truly a feel of “family” here, from the servers to the hosts and chefs, it felt like I was back n my aunt’s kitchen, with the lovely aromas of the Greek delicacies simmering in the background!

Last year for Christmas, my very thoughtful cousin treated us to a tasty night out! She knows how much I love Greek food, so she went online and did a search for Greek restaurants local to me here in Brit country. Of course she honed right in on the Romanzo Greek Taverna in Westbourne, as she knows me and knows my tastes! This loving and creative cousin then printed Romanzo’s online menu, went to a bank and obtained some English pound notes and wrapped this up for us for our gift!

So now I’m sharing back across the pond…this was our Christmas gift! We loved it!!!

Hubby and I each had appetizers…he had the Mushrooms a la Greque, mushrooms cooked with garlic in butter and I had the three dip starter served with warm pita bread…so tasty!

For our mains, hubby had the Stifado, diced lean beef, cooked with onions & red wine to create this traditional Greek stew. Served with rice and veggies!

I had the Dolmades, vine leaves stuffed with mincemeat and rice & served with potatoes and a side Greek salad

Last year we visited Crete, Greece for a 10 day combination honeymoon/1st anniversary celebration. We are planning our second vacation (holiday) to Greece this May to celebrate our second wedding anniversary! We will be visiting Corfu for 7 nights! Can’t wait to experience more Greek food, culture, the amazing hospitality and I can’t wait to share!

This is why I started this blog ~ to share, to connect, to stay in touch. Thank you to my loving and thoughtful cousin. We thought of you while we enjoyed! Someday, when you come to visit us here in Brit country, we’ll take you to all of our fave places.
