Thank your for joining me…I am thankful for you my reader!
So…my first post. Where to start? A little about myself and how I came to be a resident of the United Kingdom.
I met a wonderful British man in 2017. We traveled back and forth across the “pond” (the Atlantic Ocean) for about 4 years until we made the ultimate commitment to each other and married in 2021.
We now live on the southwest coast of England, on a lovely peninsula in Poole, Dorset, where he had spent many years raising his family. HIs mum and dad lived here and his sister and brother-in-law with their family still live within walking distance. So he has a beautiful history in this area which he thankfully shares with me now.
But…how do you make a life decision to change all you know? To leave your lifelong history, who you are. To leave your family, your lifelong friends, your career…all the things you KNOW?
Well–if you’re leaving to be with a partner like I did, you’ll need absolute faith and trust, not just in your partner, but in yourself. You’ll need to be open and honest with family and friends, share your thought process, reassure them you’re confident!
Follow my blog, and I can help make the change easier, less anxious, more enjoyable. I’ll share some funny idiosyncrasies, with the language, with the culture. I’ll provide insight into some mistakes I made and what I learned that can make your transition easier!
If you’re planning a a holiday (vacation to us Yanks), then my blog will help you as well! Currency differences, different words, the most convenient method of travel, where to stay and what to see in London or closer to me on the coast!
