For part 3 of my Thailand as a tourist destination, we’ll explore a couple of different beaches and islands!
If you’re looking for a warm climate in the typical Brit and Yank winter months, Thailand’s weather is a welcome respite! We visited at the end of November and it was idyllic! We started our trip from the port of Krabi and took a ferry over to Koh Lanta. You are able to reach Koh Lanta by vehicle, but to truly appreciate the beautiful surroundings, the ferry was the way to go for us!

The island we called home in Thailand was Koh Lanta. It was absolutely gorgeous. The beaches were pristine. The sea water was truly like bath water. The seashells were so unique!
The main beach on Koh Lanta that we visited daily is on the west side of the island on the coastline of the Strait of Malacca.
The beach was perfect for sunbathing, hunting for seashells, swimming in the very warm water, walking, and even exploring some caves along the coastline. There were also paddle boards and paddle boats for hire if you wanted a bit of exercise!

And if treasure hunting for seashells is one of your fave pastimes have a look! The unique shape of some were amazing. And so many sand dollars it was like coins from the sea everywhere!

If nightlife is. your thing, this main beach in Koh Lanta had multiple restaurants and bars. There was evening entertainment in the form of fire dancing and DJ’s every night! The staff in all of the restaurants and bars were fantastic. They shared their culture, their food and even their families with us!

Another beautiful island we enjoyed was Koh Muk!
If your destination is Thailand, there are so many beaches and islands to explore! And Koh Muk is a definite must-do!
We hired a longboat for the day to ferry us over from Koh Lanta to Koh Muk. The journey itself was fantastic. Taking a traditional longboat ferry, captained by two wonderful guides, was the best option for us. They packed us a lunch, provided cold drinks and water and gave us a wonderful experience.

Upon arrival at Koh Muk, I must say we didn’t really know what to expect. We anchored just outside a bank of caves. We were then provide with life jackets and snorkels and told “jump in”! So…we did! We followed our guide to a cave entrance and lo and behold…after about a 10 minute swim through the tunnel of the cave, we came out into the most gorgeous lagoon called Emerald Cave! A small lagoon, with a soft white sand beach, jungle like atmosphere…it was so picturesque. Like something from the film Blue Lagoon! Unfortunately, I didn’t have a camera with me so no actual photos. However, having no camera or phone allowed me to fully immerse myself in the experience, in the beauty! The link below will give you some idea of how gorgeous the experience was.

Destination Thailand ~ Beaches and Islands!

I have only touched on two islands, and there are so many more I’d like to explore! But, Koh Lanta for two weeks with a visit to Koh Muk, was an absolute perfect introduction for me into the islands, culture, food, and people of Thailand. I truly cannot wait for my next visit to this amazing country and explore more of Destination Thailand ~ Beaches and Islands!
