Celsius vs. Fahrenheit— A Quick Lesson ~

A quick lesson in converting the temperature!

Yes, England uses the Metric measure of Celsius and the Yanks use the Imperial measure of Fahrenheit.

Here are the formulas to do the conversions:

Celsius to Fahrenheit ~

Divide by 5, then multiply by 9, then add 32–easy peasy!

For example:

It’s 8 degrees Celsius right now here in England.

8 divided by 5 = 1.6 multiply by 9 = 14.4 add 32 = it’s 46.4 degrees Fahrenheit!

Flip it around:

Fahrenheit to Celsius ~

Deduct 32, then multiply by 5, then divide by 9

For example:

It’s 42 degrees Fahrenheit right now in Grafton, MA, USA.

42 minus 32 = 10 multiply by 5 = 50 divide by 9 = it’s 5.55 degrees Celsius!

My husband and I still laugh and tease when we talk about the weather and temps! And my very Brit, very sweet and very helpful brother-in-law has explained the conversion to me many times!! I still keep the Imperial/Fahrenheit measurement on my phone app, and if I want to appear that I understand everything, I switch the app to Metric/Celsius and sound like a true Brit!!
